【2020.2.17-19】TUD tour in Darmstadt, Germany

7 GP-MS students and I have been to Techniche Universitat　Darmstadt (TUD), Hessen, Germany from 17th to 20th February.

TUD and Tohoku University made MOU and GP-MS also have a good relationship with TUD. This seminar was realized through the good offices of TUD.

On the first day, TUD, Darmstadt city, and research in Germany were introduced by Prof. Albe. In the afternoon, each student visited research groups which they would like to see and discussed with professors and other researches thoroughly.

On the second day, in the morning, we all had a lab. tour (thin-film synthesis, magnetic materials, etc.) Some students left the tour and continued the discussion with the group they visited yesterday.

In the afternoon, we went downtown of Darmstadt and learn about Darmstadt by touring historical buildings.

On the last day, some participants came back to Japan and the others went to other cities to visit other research institutes.

The curriculum of GP-MS includes an international internship for 6 months ~ a year. This seminar had 3 purposes; ①to feel the air of the foreign university, ②to communicate with staff who will be related to in the future, ③ to know what the city which they will stay long is.

This seminar was valuable for participants and they got something from that.
